GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Critical Care Technician (CCT) is a skilled, unlicensed individual with direct patient care responsibilities. An active participant in the implementation of the nursing plan of care, the CCT is accountable to and works under the supervision of a professional critical care nurse to implement delegated aspects of the nursing care.
PERFORMANCE DUTIES
Performs basic personal hygiene needs of patients including bathing, HS care, mouth care, shaving and toileting.
Maintains restraint checks, performs range of motion and assists with ambulation and feeding.
Transfers/transports patients as directed.
Answers call lights promptly and courteously and assists in emergencies as directed.
Demonstrates competency as delegated in blood drawing, 12 lead EKG's, assisting with procedures, dressing changes, foley removal, specimen collection, tube feeding set ups, and obtaining vital signs.
Maintains floor stock and carts as directed, sets up new rooms for admission and keeps rooms and unit in a neat orderly fashion.
Provides accurate and complete documentation, either written or electronically, of data collected by caregiver.
Maintains clothing list and unit check sheets for critical equipment.
Relays all pertinent information, including finding, problems, and concerns regarding patient care to the assigned Registered Nurse, in a timely and effective manner.
Proficient in monitor set-up and can identify life-threatening dysrhythmias.
Required: High school graduate or equivalent. Current BLS certification required. O ne year of patient care contact. Certified Nursing Assistant and/or a nursing student who has completed Medical/Surgical One, or certified Medical Assistant.
