Quality Control Production Specialist

Department: Compliance

Reports to: VP of Compliance

Location: Liverpool

Full-Time: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Pay Schedule: Weekly Pay

Non-Exempt: Compensation starts at $42,000-$47,000 yearly depending on experience

Benefits: Begin the first day after the first two full months of employment

**The salary for any job offer within our posted pay bands is determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. Candidates with less experience and/or fewer qualifications may start at the lower end of the pay band, while those with more experience and/or higher qualifications may be offered a salary at the higher end of the pay band.

Position Summary

The Quality Control Production Specialist is a role that offers significant opportunities for growth and development. You will be responsible for ensuring that the completed product meets the established quality standards and specifications before it reaches the customer. This role involves inspecting, testing, and analyzing production processes and outputs to identify defects and areas for improvement. The Specialist will work closely with production teams to implement quality assurance protocols and corrective actions to enhance product quality and consistency. Quality Control Production Specialists are key players in ensuring the accuracy of production files before mailing, preventing breaches, and ensuring all files are compliant.

Essential Duties

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

Inspection and Testing:

  • Conduct regular inspections of materials, in-process products, and finished goods.

  • Perform tests using various tools and equipment to measure performance and functionality.

  • Document and report inspection results, including any defects or deviations from specifications.

  • Review live production files after the project release using a quality control checklist.

    Process Monitoring and Improvement:

  • Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards.

  • Identify areas for process improvement and work with production teams to implement changes.

  • Develop and update quality control procedures and protocols.

  • Trace bad mail pieces in production.

    Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of inspection activities.

  • Prepare detailed reports on quality metrics and trends.

  • Communicate findings to production and management teams to facilitate decision-making.

  • Manage Jira board tracking system to track and prioritize quality control tasks.

    Compliance and Training:

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and certifications (e.g., ISO, FDA).

  • Train production staff on quality control standards, procedures, and best practices.

  • Assist in audits and regulatory inspections as required.

  • Collaborate with the compliance team to create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for each department.

  • Create and maintain training materials.

    Problem Resolution:

  • Investigate and resolve quality-related issues and customer complaints.

  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to address root causes of defects.

  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve material quality.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Deductive reasoning for production error troubleshooting.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills in managing digital assets and information.

  • Proficient in navigating various software applications, including Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, Teams, and Jira.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, CQE) are a plus.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with statistical analysis and quality control methodologies.

    Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in using quality control tools and software (e.g., SPC, Minitab).

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Decision Making

    Decisions significantly affect the strategy, operational, and business decisions that affect the department. Problems are varied, requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation. Problems are solved using knowledge and skills and general precedents and practices.

    Independence of Action

    Results are defined, and existing practices are used as guidelines to determine specific work methods and carry out work activities independently; the supervisor/manager is available to resolve problems.

    People Management

    Not responsible for supervising others.

    Primarily works in a manufacturing environment.

  • May be exposed to varying temperatures, noise, and dust.

  • May require frequent standing, walking, crouching, bending, kneeling, lifting, and using repetitive motions of hands or wrists; finger, grasp, handle, or feel; reach with arms and hands for extended periods.
