About the Role:
Are you passionate about designing and optimizing hydraulic systems for heavy mobile mining equipment? Do you have extensive experience with CAD software and hydraulic systems? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! As a Fluid Power Designer/Engineer, you will be responsible for configuring and designing hydraulic hose routing for the Hard Rock LHD & Truck product line. You will create intricate 3D drawings and schematics, develop detailed drawings, and provide continuous support to the production team during the assembly phase.
Key Job Responsibilities
Design and Analysis: Design, analyze, and test mechanical components using SolidWorks CAD system. Verify mechanical components to make up capital equipment and perform drawing updates to address ECNs and NCRs.
Technical Support: Provide technical support to the service department to resolve design and commissioning issues. Participate in testing prototypes and work with production and quality teams to test machine functionality after build.
Hydraulic Systems: Select, design, and validate full hydraulic systems for underground heavy mobile mining equipment. Create hydraulic schematics, develop component selections with suppliers, and support new product development through design validation plans, prototype troubleshooting, and testing.
Customer Support: Provide support to the factory, aftermarket, and sales teams by troubleshooting hydraulic issues to ensure optimal product performance.
Collaboration: Work closely with Powertrain Specialists, Hydraulic and Electrical Engineers to come up with efficient designs. Collaborate with supply chain on component and detail sourcing for new designs.
Qualifications/Requirements
College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
3 or more years of experience with the design of mobile equipment.
Minimum of 5 years of experience designing, sizing, and calculating for mobile equipment hydraulic systems, including commissioning, validation, and troubleshooting.
Experience working with vendors and selecting hydraulic components and systems for mobile equipment. Fully competent with 3D CAD design, preferably SolidWorks.
Good understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly welding and machining.
Understanding of Bill of Materials and MRP systems/ECN/NCR.
Experienced with Microsoft Office software and ERP systems, SAP preferred.
Experienced with project management methodologies.
Knowledgeable in fluid mechanics and electrics.
Solid knowledge of fluid connectors standards and good practices for fluid conveyance, including tubing and hoses.
Experience with data logging and instrumentation for hydraulic testing.
Solid understanding of architecture used on mobile hydraulic systems.
High level of initiative with the ability to work independently and as part of a broader team.
