You will be an A/AI Research Engineer Sr Staff, focusing on the research and development of technologies that enable and advance semi and fully autonomous systems for defense and commercial customers. Our team is responsible for developing and applying cutting-edge AI and machine learning algorithms to drive innovation and advancement in autonomous systems.

What You Will Be Doing

As an A/AI Research Engineer Sr Staff, you will be responsible for serving as the algorithm expert, driving the development of AI and machine learning algorithms, and applying the latest research to solve complex problems. You will be involved in the inception of ideas, driving development cycles from research to prototype testing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate autonomous functionality into LM products and platforms.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

• Research and develop improvements to machine learning and robotic algorithms

• Drive advancements in signal processing, computer vision, and control systems

• Develop AI algorithms for mission systems and apply latest research on AI algorithms

• Train machine learning and deep learning models to solve complex problems

• Investigate and apply latest machine learning and deep learning techniques

• Optimize performance of AI algorithms, applications, and platforms

• Develop and document algorithm and implementation requirements

• Develop prototypes that enable autonomous functionality in LM products and platforms

• Interface with cross-functional teams involved in development lifecycle

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance. A company-sponsored interim secret is required to start.

Basic Qualifications:

• Ability to obtain a secret clearance is required.

• Previous Program Manager experience

• Vehicle autonomy software architect and system designer experience

• Experience with robotics (including ROS)

• Previous experience in the A/AI and robotics domain

• Knowledge of software and system architecture patterns

• Knowledge of application areas (computer vision, natural language processing, signal processing, robots, multi-agent systems, manned-unmanned teaming, etc.)

• Demonstrated history of building prototypes in rapid prototyping environment

• Experience working and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary research team setting

• Experience working on projects for government labs including ONR, AFRL, DARPA, etc.

• Experience using modeling languages including UML/SysML and integrated modeling tools like Enterprise Architect.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $145,000 - $277,900. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
