CCA - Connecting Communities in Action Mental Health Therapist in Little Valley, New York

Job Location: This position is based out of the Cattaraugus County Jail Facility

Job Summary:

Use of counseling and evidence-based practices to assist incarcerated individuals with their overall social and emotional well-being with the goal of maximizing healthy daily function in their current and future living environments.

Education & Experience:

Minimum Educational requirements: Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Clinician (LMHC) or Registered Nurse (RN) with psychiatric experience. Minimum of two years mental health counseling experience. Experience in assessing lethality. Direct experience with, or significant knowledge of, the intersectionality of mental illness and substance use disorders. The ability to effectively deescalate crises. Other Requirements & Skills:

Ability and motivation to work independently and without direct supervision as well as in a team. Ability to establish and maintain clear, consistent and appropriate boundaries with individuals served by the facility and as outlined by jail supervisory staff. Must have valid drivers license, insurability, and reliable transportation. Must pass all relevant background checks including NYS Central Register Check, NYS Staff Exclusion Check, Local, State and Federal Criminal Background checks and Department of Justice Finger Printing. Understanding of Trauma Informed Care ability to operate within an empathic, person-centered framework. Primary Responsibilities:

Participation in the intake, screening and evaluation of both new and existing individuals in the facility. Completion of initial and follow up lethality assessments in individuals served by the facility. Provision of routine group and individual therapies. Assistance with assessment, treatment and stabilization of individuals with emergent mental health needs. Participation in the required information sharing, referral and transfer of an individual to another facility, including acute care settings and rehabilitation facilities. Assistance in coordination of discharge planning to ensure continuity of post-incarceration care. Completion of required documentation as outlined by governing body requirements and supervisory expectation. Compliance with all facility safety standards to ensure personal, inmate and peer safety and security. Compliance with all agency and governing body regulations related to the confidentiality of personal records. Enthusiastic promotion of the mission of CCA; be working towards the good of the entire agency and acting as an ambassador of CCA throughout the community.
