BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The Public Sector Sales Team is looking for an individual who demonstrates a passion to win in Public Sector and who embodies strategic orientation to drive customer-focused results. Possesses the financial acumen to make intelligent business decisions. Exhibits executive presence and presents in a compelling way (skills to present to C-Suite).

Develops sales teams to build organizational capacity. The average revenue responsibility for this role is $70M.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages Account Managers Public Sector (AMPS) and KASC Public Sector (KPS) directly in all phases of the Public Sector programs to ensure maximum sales growth, compliance, productivity, and customer retention within a specified geography. Leads team to exceed revenue and profitability goals.

  • Manages the targeting of Public Sector opportunities to ensure proper market penetration and that the program is in line with MSC Strategy. This includes but is not limited to Federal Public Sector, USPS, Military, State-wide programs, local/municipalities, national/local purchasing cooperatives and education opportunities.

  • Represents Public Sector accounts in cross-functional initiatives.

  • Establishes and maintains a working relationship with key MSC Marketing, Product, HR, IS, E-Commerce, Legal and Accounting department associates to keep abreast of current trends and new products/services.

  • Works with AMPS, KPS, and Public Sector Program Managers to develop strategies for specific account penetration

  • and to drive customer’s Public Sector procurement message to local facilities.

  • Anticipates business changes and implements additional incremental growth programs as needed to exceed revenue and profitability goals

  • Provides dedicated coaching on a regular basis to ensure continued development of each team member.

  • Submits to management all required sales and expense reports.

  • Sells MSC’s comprehensive value basket and services to clients.

  • Develops a departmental budget and ensures adherence to budget. Takes corrective action when needed.

  • Develops, with the VP of Public Sector Sales, Public Sector strategic sales growth plans to align with MSC corporate sales and marketing strategy.

  • Performs all duties inherent in the role of MSC Manager as defined by the MSC Code of Conduct including hiring, termination, review, and development of associates.

  • Other duties as assigned from time to time by upper management.

  • Drives the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of

  • purpose.

  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

    EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or the equivalent.

  • Minimum of five years industrial/manufacturing sales experience including two years sales management is required.

  • Relevant Military experience is a plus

    SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of MSC-like product lines and services and Public Sector/National account identification and large account maintenance techniques are required.

  • Experience developing individual contributors and future leaders.

  • Thrives in a competitive leadership role. Proven pattern of success in past accomplishments.

  • Leadership style rewards success and holds associates accountable for performance.

  • Extensive experience working cross-functionally in large organizations and removing barriers is a must.

  • Demonstrated people acumen and experience developing associates is preferred.

  • Strong strategic acumen with experience aligning teams to organizational strategy is preferred

  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills and techniques are required.

  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel is required.

  • Excellent organizational, time management, leadership, coaching, and team building skills are required.

  • Computer literacy and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software is required.

  • Substantial knowledge of e-business as it relates to Public Sector/national accounts is required.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills are also required.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information (“ITAR”) and/or Controlled Unclassified Information (“CUI”).

    Compensation starting at $100520 - $157960 and up, depending on experience.

    The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate’s relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
