Overview

Independently perform journeyman level duties and is responsible for the day-to-day operational issues relating to the energy plant, hospital and associated equipment and systems. Responsible for designing, constructing, installing, or maintaining building systems or equipment, ensuring that the finished product meets all standards and requirements for safety, is functional, efficient and comfortable for the occupants or users. Monitors problems in equipment or systems and recommends solutions to alleviate them.

You’ll succeed in this job if you are thorough and committed to safety. Not only will you perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or dusting, you will also use specialized equipment and techniques to further sanitize this facility.

You must learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects. You will learn about and safely use disinfecting chemicals and learn techniques and procedures for cleaning certain specialized rooms or pieces of equipment. You may also refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, tissue holders, and other supplies, as well as deliver clean linens to patient rooms.

Responsibilities

Operates high-pressure boilers.

Operates chillers and absorbers.

Compiles water treatment reports.

Performs maintenance on boilers, chillers, pumps, steam pipes, and related machinery.

Operates automated building control computer and makes corrections as required.

Operates/adjusts air handling equipment.

Performs preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.

Performs routine inspection of mechanical rooms

Performs building maintenance.

Demonstrates the ability to take a job from start to finish.

Works with other crafts and coordinates with them to allow work to be completed on schedule.

Consistently produces satisfactory quantity of work with no decrease in quality.

Performs follow up inspections before signing off as complete.

Complete job assignments in an accurate and timely manner.

Maintains current licensure and/or certification as required.

Qualifications

High School diploma, GED, or equivalent; At least 5 years work experience in power plant operating or successful completion of four year apprenticeship program in power plant operation or equivalent within Healthcare or related field.

Pay Range

$17.89 - $24.60 /hour
