Pulaski County Special School District Diesel Mechanic in Little Rock, Arkansas

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma/GED

  • Diesel mechanic certification or completion of Vo-Tech Diesel Mechanic class with a grade of "B" or better.

  • Five years experience as a mechanic or mechanic helper

  • Commercial drivers' license

  • Pass drug/alcohol test

REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation/Operation and Parts Supervisor

JOB GOAL: To keep the District’s buses and vehicles in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Perform mechanical repairs including major overhauls.

  2. Perform inspections of a vehicle and its equipment.

  3. Maintain maintenance records.

  4. Available as substitute bus driver when needed.

  5. Perform some heavy lifting.

  6. Respond to after hour emergencies.

  7. Report for drug/alcohol testing as required by Board policy.

  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :

Salary Range: Range 18 - Support Staff Hourly Salary Schedule ($20.27/hr. - $34.78/hr. depending on relevant experience)

Length of Contract: 244 contract days, 8 hrs/day

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Personnel Status: Classified

EVALUATION :

Performance of this job will be evaluated according to provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel.
