Job Description
Job Function / Purpose
The Business Developer reports to the Vice President of Business Development and is responsible for identifying, developing, and maintaining opportunities within assigned service lines in the association management sectors . This role focuses on expanding market share, fostering strategic relationships, and achieving individual and team sales goals, all while upholding the company's values and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Market Development : Develops and implements strategies to grow market share by engaging property owner associations, municipal officials, and industry professionals.
Sales & Prospecting : Identifies, researches, and pursues prospective projects through established and alternative sales channels.
Strategic Pursuits : Leads targeted sales initiatives, collaborating with inside sales teams and representative networks to execute winning strategies.
Industry Engagement : Builds and maintains strong relationships with key industry influencers and stakeholders.
Market Intelligence : Monitors and reports on business conditions affecting assigned campaigns, targets, or markets.
Leadership & Visibility : Represents the company at trade shows, seminars, and industry events to enhance brand presence and market credibility.
Revenue Optimization : Ensures profit margins are maximized through strategic pricing and contract negotiations.
Marketing Collaboration : Works with marketing teams on promotional efforts, including advertising, media engagement, and campaign execution.
Project & Sales Tracking : Maintains detailed records of project status, tracking progress and reporting key metrics.
Client Engagement : Develops and nurtures relationships with key client contacts throughout the sales and project lifecycle.
Proposal & Bidding Process :
Sources and procures RFQ, RFP, and bid documents.
Prepares bid forms, bond requests, and contract checklists, ensuring appropriate corporate approvals.
Attends pre-bid meetings and site visits.
Develops and presents compelling proposals and pricing strategies.
Contract & Project Coordination : Supports project kickoffs, ensuring key proposal commitments are met.
Financial Acumen : Understands and interprets financials, budgeting, and projections to support decision-making.
Client Follow-up & Performance Review : Engages with clients post-contract to assess service satisfaction and identify future opportunities.
Continuous Improvement : Analyzes lost opportunities to refine strategies and increase contract wins.
Compliance & Safety : Adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to the role.
Qualifications
Strong business development and sales experience
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to build and maintain strategic relationships
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Financial literacy, including budgeting and projections
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree and 5-10 years related experience or an equivalent combination of related education and experience
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Relevant AMS, CMCA, PCAM, LCAM, are desirable
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
May require occasional evenings, overnight and/or weekend travel a couple times a year.
