SCOPE & BASIC FUNCTION:
Plan, execute & document results of 2-4 Quality Inspection rounds per shift across all operating work centers
Complete & document results of shift testing to include but not limited to tensile, roundness and force testing, wire diameter checks, hanging weight tests etc.
Document non-conforming material, calculate/perform rational AQL assessments to disposition nonconforming material will be maximizing throughput and minimizing overall mfg costs
Support & execute in process quality studies of new and existing materials, AQL’s, analyzing data, identifying/implementing corrective actions
Develop/support/establish/document raw material and work in process standards/specifications to improve the mfg operator experience and autonomy.
Actively use 5 Why process to understand root causes of production issues with Raw material, work in process or finish goods and develop/implement sustainable corrective actions using statistical methods to confirm improvements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regular attendance and punctuality required to support needs of the mfg business and cross shift meetings
Maintain a flexible work schedule between shifts to periodically cover for peer vacations, PTO etc. while supporting the mfg business needs to have a Quality Inspector on site
Support evaluation of new and existing processes and raw materials.
Work with QC inspector as needed to review supplier COA’s and disposition of raw materials.
Document all non-conforming material and shift reports prior to completing your shift
Proactively share/convey succinctly and comprehensively your shift results verbally and in written form (shift reports, NCR’s etc.) the following but not limited to findings, audits, procedural breakdowns, improvements implemented to your peers and others via cross shift mtgs, published shift reports and data records.
Actively seek/record/act on quality problems, Quality and Safety STOP actions, inefficient mfg methods/processes, unsafe conditions/behaviors, measurement devices out of Calibration, out of spec conditions etc.
Actively use the ERP system to access PN standard cost
Understand and actively use Sophos to access PN & Assembly drawings to ID metrics causing nonconforming material
Interact as needed with Purchasing and Suppliers on quality issues and on a regular basis.
Communicate with engineering personnel to develop raw material and in-process specs.
Actively design/develop inspection and test procedures for the quality team, mfg team, others.
Calibrate measuring devices and ensure measuring devices are calibrated as needed.
Train operators, inspectors and other personnel performing in process inspections and testing and data acquisition
Maintain logs and assure material traceability to lots
Conduct studies, analyze data and write concise reports
Present quality issues and data analysis in a concise manner to engineering personnel to arrive at best practice solutions.
Ability to solve quality problems based on gathering information and data to implement a good practice/method or control to prevent in the future
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Follow all EHS regulations, policies, programs and TBT to prevent incidents
Actively support the Safety and Quality STOP programs by submitting monthly STOP card requirements
Completes all Quality, EHS and HR training classes on time
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/OTHER SKILLS:
Associates Degree in a related technical field or 5 years equivalent work experience in quality systems improvement preferred.
5 plus years of practical inspection and quality experience in manufacturing
Good communication skills both written and verbal
Strong communications and interpersonal skills
Experience interpreting material drawings specifications.
Experience using quality systems i.e. QMS, ISO9000, Calibration preferred
Ability to interpret customer quality and technical specifications.
Able to organize and coordinate multiple tasks and activities.
Proficient in use of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, Teams)
Problem solving skills
