We are currently looking for a proven technology manager with broad experience in people management/development with the drive and vision to take Data Center Operations to the next level in our Atlanta market. This role is for a Data Center Operations Manager for a Co-location in the Atlanta City space.

The Data Center Manager is the point of contact within a Data Center responsible for safety, security, availability, scaling, costs and efficiency. The Data Center Manager must manage across the functions but also have the ability to dive deep into any given function as needed. The Data Center Manager leads the team that is installing, maintaining, and de-commissioning racks and server-level components in a safe, secure and cost-effective manner. At times, based upon need and capabilities, the Data Center Manager and the team may be called-upon to support similar operations within other Amazon Web Services regions.

The successful candidate will have experience managing managers and teams with varying skill-sets; creating, tracking and controlling budgets; leaning and streamlining current processes for maximum efficiency; strategic planning through use of funnel metrics; mentoring people in all levels; sponsoring and delivering large projects and proposing technical solutions to complicated problems.

This position requires a candidate with the proven ability to drive continuous improvement and the ability to keep pace with our explosive growth while motivating others to meet the challenges of an extremely deadline-driven environment.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. Key job responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a teams of 8-15 hourly associates within 1 to multiple Data Centers within a localized region.

• Assist and drive safety, security, quality, performance and customer experience across multiple shifts

• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures

• Accountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals

• Strategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; resolve problems; and address staffing needs

• Mentor, train and develop both peers and direct reports for career progression

• Obsess over team learning and development, both from a technical/functional and soft skills (critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and adaptability) development perspective

• Write and deliver annual performance reviews to staff

• Develop, improve, and share operational best practices across the Cluster and with global peers

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Center operations and direct performance management experience of managing teams .

  • Demonstrated ability developing team learning solutions with measurable business outcomes.

  • 3+ years of experience implementing LEAN/6 Sigma methodology (continuous improvement, DMAIC/DVADV, 5 Whys, Root Cause analysis, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Operations or related field and knowledge of information technology infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms, storage server platforms, server components, network devices, cabling best practices and IT service delivery principles and best practices.

  • LEAN Certification/Belts and experience managing geographically dispersed teams .

  • Functional knowledge of Data Center mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.

  • Advanced experience with collecting and reporting key performance metrics and/or data modeling to continuously measure and improve operational status quo Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
