Defense Security Service Training Specialist (Cybersecurity Curriculum Manager) in Linthicum, Maryland

Summary The incumbent serves as a Training Specialist (Cybersecurity Curriculum Manager) at the CDSE in Linthicum, MD. The incumbent, utilizing their subject matter knowledge, reviews and assists in the interpretation of new & existing Cybersecurity policy, procedures, and regulations, and analyzes the impact on developing, implementing, and maintaining the CDSE Cybersecurity curricula. The incumbent oversees training products developed and delivered to our targeted adult learner audiences. Responsibilities The incumbent of this position serves as a Training Specialist (Cybersecurity Curriculum Manager) at the CDSE in Linthicum, MD. As a Training Specialist (Cybersecurity Curriculum Manager) you will perform the following duties, which is not an all-inclusive list: Provides support through planning, coordination, implementation, and maintenance for current and emerging security certification programs Plans, coordinates, and controls cybersecurity training programs, products, and services throughout development and delivery. Serves as a recognized, cybersecurity authoritative consultant and provider of training for the protection of national security information and other assets and the performance of sensitive duties as set forth in the requirements of the DoD with respect to cybersecurity. Provides authoritative guidance to students, security specialists in the field, and the professional DoD security community at large. Identifies and implements new and innovative courses of instruction and training products and works to integrate technology-based training and other educational technology strategies into existing classroom instruction. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This position has a Basic Requirement for the 1712: Education Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. or Experience General Experience (for GS-5 positions): Experience that provided evidence of the ability to instruct students in the use of equipment, principles, or practices of the subject or occupation. This experience may have been gained as a teacher or instructor; in on-the-job supervision or instruction of subordinates or fellow workers; or in work involving application of the principles, practices, and techniques of the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled. Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s). Supervising or administering a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. *NOTE: Failure to provide transcripts will result in you being rated ineligible for this position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade (GS/GG-13) in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility. Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Acting as a knowledge based authority in the Cyber security filed to include utilizing experimental theories, new developments, and recent interpretations of its important policies and program procedures. Managing cybersecurity program resources and implementation. Developing, implementing, and evaluating training programs. Applying principles of adult education and teaching methodologies to a cybersecurity training program. Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies: 1. Cybersecurity- Protect and defend information and information systems in order to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability. (AKA Information Assurance) 2. Risk Management- Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools used for risk assessment and mitigation, including assessment of failures and their consequences. 3. Technical Competence- Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues. 4. Curriculum Development- Develop training and educational content with corresponding curricular products and services to facilitate competency acquisition. 5. Training and Education Analysis- Analyze processes/programs and interpret results in assessing training and education requirements. Identify individual and collective training and education capabilities and resourcing gaps, and develop gap mitigation strategies. Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
