We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal Design Enablement DevOps Engineer or a Sr. Principal Design Enablement DevOps Engineer based out of Linthicum, MD.

You'll leverage your current experience and join our team of scientists and engineers in design of integrated circuits for emerging applications in low temperature environments. You’ll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside a broad array of scientists and engineers to make these design solutions a reality.

The Microelectronics Designs and Applications (MDA) Business Area (BA) of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking motivated and experienced design enablement DevOps engineers with demonstrated ability to lead development of new technologies to support our innovative MDA team in development of design enablement software in support of emerging supercomputing technologies.

Selected candidates will support a team of engineers and scientists in design, modeling, and simulation of advanced RF MMICs (Multimode Integrated Circuits) for advanced computing applications. This role provides an opportunity to broaden one’s skillset and develop an understanding of diverse topics inside and outside of DevOps or even software.

Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and maintain DevOps workflows supporting a multidisciplinary team across multiple development, test, and production environments. Spearhead the development, testing, maintenance, and debugging of CI/CD pipelines interfacing with commercial software to enable improved quality control practices for user developed code. Grow DevOps awareness within a highly technical community and improve adoption of good code practices through mentoring and advocacy.

The Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) software we aim to create pipelines for currently are Ansys EM and Cadence Virtuoso. Integration of these tools into a CI/CD flow will present a unique challenge and require new skills to be learned. A successful applicant will be expected to learn from resident subject matter experts to acquire the domain knowledge needed to work with the tools. Extremely well qualified applicants may have additional applied experience in data analysis and visualization with applications in ASIC/Chip manufacturing and test.

All job functions require close teamwork across functional disciplines and integrated product teams in a fast-paced environment. This program area is expanding which offers the potential for future growth opportunities (technical lead, software architect, etc.) for candidates who successfully demonstrate exceptional performance and leadership. This requisition may be filled at a Principal or Senior Principal level based on qualifications listed below.

This position requires work on site in Northrop Grumman Baltimore, MD area facilities.

Principal Design Enablement DevOps Engineer Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or comparable degree, with 5 years of experience, or MS degree with 3 years of experience, or PhD with 0+ years of experience.

  • Basic understanding of the Agile software development lifecycle.

  • Experience using Linux and Windows operating systems.

  • Experience writing or maintaining BASH and Python programs/scripts.

  • Experience using or administering source control. (e.g. Git)

  • Experience creating, maintaining, and using CI/CD pipelines.

  • Able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph. US Citizenship is a requirement for this.

  • Willing to work full-time on site in Baltimore Maryland.

Sr. Principal Design Enablement DevOps Engineer Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or comparable degree, with 8 years of experience, or MS degree with 6 years of experience, or PhD with 3+ years of experience.

  • Understanding of the Agile software development lifecycle.

  • Proficient in Linux and Windows operating systems.

  • Proficient in writing or maintaining BASH and Python programs/scripts.

  • Expertise in using or administering source control. (e.g. Git)

  • Experience creating, maintaining, and using CI/CD pipelines.

  • Eager to learn new skills and explore new topics.

  • Able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph. US Citizenship is a requirement for this.

  • Willing to work full-time on site in Baltimore Maryland.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Cadence V-manager.

  • Experience with Iron Python.

  • Experience interfacing with COTS software.

  • Experience employing Agile software methodologies and tools: Kanban, Jira.

  • Experience using or administering Docker and Kubernetes container technologies.

  • Experience with REST APIs.

  • Experience writing or maintaining programs/scripts written in additional languages, e.g., Lisp, Julia, C/C++, JavaScript, Matlab.

  • Experience using, administering, and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure.

  • Experience using or administering web application stacks, e.g., Node, Apache, Ngnix, Flask.

  • Experience using build systems, e.g., Visual Studio Build, MSBuild, CMake, Maven, Ant.

  • Experience administrating DevOps technologies (e.g., GitLab, Prometheus, Kubernetes, Nexus) in a production environment.

  • Experience with data science, analysis tools, and data visualization methods.

  • Extremely well qualified applications may have application experience in chip fabrication and test, such as ASIC manufacturing.

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph.

Salary Range: $102,400 - $153,600

Salary Range 2: $127,000 - $190,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
