Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) within Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an exceptionally talented, motivated Material Control Operations Manager for our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs.
Northrop Grumman’s ATL semiconductor foundry provides unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide) and providing leading edge technology development in superconducting electronics. Our devices enable multiple generations of Northrop Grumman’s ground-based radars, avionic radars, and space systems.

Our multidisciplinary foundry team enables activities spanning from development to sustainment process engineering. ATL is responsible for all aspects of semiconductor technology including design, mask making, wafer fabrication, test, and assembly. Candidates must be strong team participants, have excellent communication skills, and be resourceful as well as multi-disciplinary. A strong understanding of semiconductor technology, direct process development experience and production background is essential.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate leadership characteristics, a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to balance programmatic needs to deliver results within cost, schedule, and quality parameters while encouraging and rewarding innovative behaviors in the staff.
The chosen candidate will be the Manager for Material Control operations and will be responsible for directing, planning, and managing work on multiple shifts. The Material Control Operations Manager is responsible for the direct supervision of 5 shift managers, projects managers and represented employees working in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
Other responsibilities include:
Planning, scheduling and managing the efficient movement of production material from receiving or the storerooms to production to meet engineering and production schedules
Use Material Planning and Inventory systems like SAP and Factory Works to monitor and manage material movement and storage
Provide direction and guidance to employees utilizing management guidelines and general policies
Responsible for daily operations of teams on 5 shifts.
Involved in staffing decisions, training, and driving engagement efforts to achieve the employee's highest potential
Work independently across the organization to meet Fab needs and goals
Problem resolution, and process improvement, and provide direction and training.
Monitor functional and organizational metrics and look for areas of improvements.
Encourage and provide direction for career development of employees, including educational options for highly motivated employees.
Maintain a safe work environment.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations, engineering or related field with 8 years of operations, material control, production control, manufacturing and/or production environment; or supply chain management experience; OR a Master’s degree with 6 years of related experience as discussed above.
3+ years of demonstrated successful people management experience – including experience managing organizations of 20 or more individuals
Experienced in presenting to executive staff / leadership
Experience with basic manufacturing and production concepts
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience in the semiconductor or related industry
Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government DoD TS/SCI clearance within a timeframe set forth by management
US citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in STEM or relevant industry experience
Experience working in a union represented environment.
Experience managing functional managers and leading diverse teams.
Experience working with SAP and MES.
Current/active TS/SCI clearance. #NGMCFab
Salary Range: $135,800 - $203,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
