This work is related to the maintenance and repair of State-maintained roads within Lincoln County. This supervisory position will be required to work in diverse working environments performing various general maintenance operations. The recommended applicant will supervise a roadway maintenance crew that is working in and around heavy traffic, near heavy equipment and with power tools. The recommended applicant must be able to maintain a close team environment or work independently as needed. Responsibilities include the supervision of a roadway maintenance crew that is involved in pavement patching, drainage maintenance, shoulder repair, paved and unpaved roadway maintenance, vegetation management, snow and ice removal and emergency response to roadway maintenance needs. This position is required to work nights and weekends as needed for emergency and planned operations in all types of weather conditions and on uneven surfaces and slopes. Position will investigate and answer concerns from the public.

Experience in road maintenance and repair, as well as, maintenance equipment operation
Experience in record keeping, such as tracking employee and equipment time and recording quantities of materials used
Experience in NCDOT snow and ice operations
Experience in Basic Work Zone Safety and NCDOT Workplace Safety Policy and Practices
Experience in planning work and supervising a work crew
Additional Expectations:
The employee must safely be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. The selected applicant must be able to legally operate CDL required equipment/trucks with both manual and automatic transmissions and have Tanker (N) endorsement at the time of hire or within 360 days of hire date. Pre-employment drug testing is required for this position. As a condition of employment, a release form (ALCDRG-01) and a background statement (ALCDRG-06) must be completed and signed allowing the NCDOT to check with previous employers for the past three years about controlled substances and alcohol testing. Safety toe footwear is required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
