Join us and help design thefuture of resource management. Itron, a technology leader in the energy and smart grid sector, is seeking an Engineering Technicianfor our Remote Firmware lab. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and maintaining the systems used by remote firmware engineers around the world, and continually looking for ways to improve the systems or make them more efficient. This is a 100% on-site position. Duties & Responsibilities: Assists in the design and construction of test environments, including building test fixtures (cables, enclosures, writing instructions, etc.) in an R&D laboratory. Software installation Troubleshooting failures Soldering (including surface-mount components and 30-gauge whisker wires, often under a microscope) Software and script execution (and debugging and development) Organization of the lab equipment and access to it Adhering to established safety protocols and maintaining a safe and efficient lab environment Required Skills and Experience: 2-3 years of related experience Troubleshooting problems through to understanding root cause of failure Surface-mount soldering Good interpersonal skills for effective collaboration Familiarity with Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) Preferred Skills and Experience: RF fundamentals Network configuration/knowledge - cellular, RF and/or ethernet networks Soldering ESD (electrostatic discharge) Raspberry Pi, Arduino or other microcontrollers Python scripting or command-line familiarity Education:Associate's degree in a related discipline is preferred, or equivalent experience.
