Position Overview:

We’re excited to welcome a Group Lead - Receiving Inspections to our team at Siemens. In this pivotal role, you’ll be the driving force behind our receiving inspection team, guiding them with expertise and fostering a culture of excellence. You’ll coordinate seamlessly with our Warehouse and Supplier Quality Management to ensure smooth operations and adherence to schedules, while also leading and developing a dedicated team. Your proactive approach and ability to work independently will help maintain our high standards and contribute to our reputation as a leader in the industry. What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Independently perform complex inspections and set up new or unique equipment for quality testing.

  • Conduct first article inspections of parts and assemblies to ensure accuracy.

  • Prepare and approve inspection reports, charts, and records detailing quality measures and conformance status.

  • Lead and mentor a team of receiving inspectors, providing training and guidance to ensure high standards of inspection and team development.

  • Manage defective material containment and execute the purge process as needed.

  • Regularly update the Sacramento Receiving department on significant inspection findings.

  • Coordinate with Receiving Inspection Management to keep inspection lots current with supplier performance.

  • Document deviations with Quality Notifications and Nonconformance reports for purchased parts.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Proven experience performing inspections, including Level 2 VT inspections in the past 5+ years.

  • Proficiency with advanced measuring equipment and understanding of Quality Control terminology.

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Experience with sophisticated measurement techniques and specification interpretation.

  • Ability to interpret and apply quality control standards effectively.

  • Familiarity with rail manufacturing and relevant industry certifications (e.g., ASQ, AWS, NANCE, SAP) is a plus.

The work environment involves occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, outdoor conditions, fumes, chemicals, and electrical risks, with a generally loud noise level.

The role requires regular standing and frequent walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Occasionally, it involves sitting, using hands for tasks, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities needed include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
