MIT Lincoln Laboratory Materials Scientist in Lexington, Massachusetts

The Advanced Materials and Microsystems Group combines chemistry, biology, materials science, electronics, optics, photonics, microfluidics, nanofabrication, and advanced textiles to develop new technologies for a range of applications. We are growing our team of experts especially skilled in materials synthesis and development of miniature, low-power systems with unusual transduction mechanisms and form factors, such as marbles, threads, and disks. You will join a team of people whose combined expertise ranges from system analysis to circuit design to polymer chemistry, and work in state-of-the-art laboratories, including a 90 nm CMOS fabrication facility and an advanced functional fiber drawing facility.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have demonstrated underlying skills in at least one of the fundamental disciplines, have some experience in a hands-on laboratory setting, and be enthusiastic and able to learn the specialized skills needed to develop novel microsystems. He or she will have demonstrated ability to work with and communicate well with multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, and technicians, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree materials science, chemistry, physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline.

  • Demonstrated experimental laboratory and/or computational modelling experience in materials science, chemistry, physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline.

  • Candidate must have demonstrated excellent hands-on laboratory skills, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills.
