Job Summary and Qualifications
Supervises and coordinates activities of Nutritional Services staff in food safety, sanitation, safety, food preparation, meal delivery, and clean up. Supervises diet office, hostess program, and trayline. Monitors activities ensuring Joint Commission regulations, City and State Health Department regulations are followed. Ensures that department and hospital policy & procedures are followed.
Minimum Position Requirements:
1. Education
a. Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics
b. Master’s Preferred
2. Experience
a. Minimum of two years of hospital experience.
3. Licensure/Certification Required:
a. Registered Dietitian with Commission on Dietetic Registration
b. Must hold Texas Licensure
c. Food Managers Certification, must obtain within 6 months of employment
Degree of Supervision Required: Involves general guidance, supervision, and direction by the Director of Food and Nutrition. The employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
Patient Population Served: Employees in this position must be able to respond to nutritional needs in departments serving neonate/infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age categories. The employee must be able to demonstrate the special skills required to work in areas providing care to patients in these age categories. The skills and knowledge need to provide such care may be gained through education, training, or experience.

7. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
a. Responsible for overall operation and management of the Patient Meal Service Program
b. Responsible for coordination of daily floor stock delivery. Monitors costs and provides financial reports as needed to Managers/Directors
c. Coordinates and implements performance improvement and quality control programs for Food and Nutrition Services.
d. Serves as Safety & Infection Control Officer for Food and Nutrition Services
e. Oversees Computrition program, is on-site administrator and liaison with IT&S department.
f. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, coaching and counseling of staff in accordance with hospital HR policies.
g. Coordinates and/or performs a variety of staff development functions to include but not limited to: department specific needs assessment, development of goals and objectives, implementation methods, evaluation measures and instruction of education activities.
h. Collaborates with Education Resource & Development to identify needs and plan education activities to enhance professional growth
i. Responsible for ensuring all required documentation is completed in a timely manner.
j. Responsible for ensuring compliance with HACCP guidelines and regulatory standards such as TJC, CMS, etc.
k. Provides education support for staff, ensures necessary certifications are maintained.
l. Participates on hospital committees and is involved with leadership development programs.
m. Monitor employee attendance for timeliness, accrual of incremental overtime utilizing KRONOS on a daily basis.
n. Acts as a resource and/or expert in food and nutrition Information.
