Requisition Summary

PACCAR’s Global Powertrain Department develops engines, drivelines, and axles. They are operating in Europe and North America. The Zero Emissions Powertrain department is part of GPT and developing new electrified components to support truck applications in the global product offerings under the Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF brands. We are focused on new technologies such as battery electric, hydrogen fuel cell electric, and advanced vehicle concepts in the heavy and medium-duty transportation industries. As the Functional Safety/Cyber Security Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the compliance of product designs with the ISO 26262 Functional Safety Standard and ISO 27001/27002 Cyber Security Standards, while also considering cost factors. You will act as a valuable resource for safety-related matters in projects. Your primary responsibility will be to define and execute safety activities, ensuring that product designs adhere to regulations. In this collaborative role, you will closely collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams to ensure the delivery of functional safety and cyber security-compliant products.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Auditing: Perform system-, process- and product audits to ensure compliance with established internal procedures and processes

  • Issue resolution: Primary point of contact for all safety-related concerns including cyber security during and after engineering development. Work proactively to resolve identified issues

  • Collaboration: being a technical sparring partner and coach towards the engineers in the team. This may involve providing guidance and support, resolving issues, and facilitating communication between departments and between departments and suppliers

  • Cyber security: Assure compliance to functional safety throughout the lifecycle of all electronic and electrical safety-related systems.

  • Work Product Deliverables: Assure the quality of work products to prevent risks. Deliver an independent opinion on the design status and the development results of work products and deliverables, as well as providing solicited and unsolicited advice in that area

  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned

Skills / Competencies

  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills; ability to deliver positive a negative feedback effectively to a variety of audiences with sensitivity and confidentially

  • Organized and attentive to detail

  • Knowledge of Battery Electric, hybrid powertrain, energy storage subsystems and controls

  • Understanding of ISO 26262, ISO 27001 and ISO27002.

  • Experience working with assessors and customers in support of functional safety or cyber security audits

  • Willing to travel (up to 20% of the work time/internationally)

Qualifications

  • Experience with automotive or commercial vehicle powertrain analysis

  • Experience in the electrification of automotive

  • Six Sigma/DFSS trained

  • Thorough working knowledge of engine after-treatment strategies and analysis

  • Ability to lead projects of significant ambiguity and generate useful analytical results

  • Effectively manage personal workload and flexibility to respond to changing priorities

Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant technical field

  • 6 or more years of work experience, preferably in the automotive development

  • Relevant certifications (e.g. Certified Functional Safety Professional or equivalent)
