ACM Estimator Overview

The ACM Estimator is responsible for pursuing and bidding on private and public commercial projects that include architectural façade work. This involves preparing estimates, work scopes, and submitting proposals in a timely manner to General Contractors and building owners.

Essential Estimating Functions

  • Review in detail: Project plans, specifications, and any applicable special requirements
  • Accurately and efficiently estimate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors required to complete projects
    • Includes review and comprehension of historical data with respect to material and wage increases, equipment, and indirect costs
    • Coordinate with direct report to maintain baseline cost for wages
  • Prepare and submit detailed proposals for façade work projects
  • Maintain CRM and internal bid tracking systems
  • Follow up with General Contractors/Building Owners after proposal submission
    • Descope with General Contractors/Building Owners post-bid
  • Enter project budget(s) and quantities into Foundation accounting software upon notice of project award
  • Complete and file "Job Information Sheets" with relevant & specific project information
  • Hand off project successfully to Project Management and Design teams
  • Review Change Orders presented by Project Management team

Position Competencies

  • Ability to comprehend estimating and review of bid documents such as plans and specifications
  • Ability to work well with vendors, subcontractors, and Engineers throughout bidding phase
  • Ability to bid numerous projects simultaneously 
  • Ability to work as a team with project management and design to complete projects successfully  
  • Ability to resolve conflicts between:
    • Design intent and constructability
    • Original vs. additional work scopes

Required Skills

  • Fully embrace company core values
  • Strong mathematical skills with 3-5 years of experience in estimating building envelope packages / facades
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Excel spreadsheets
  • Experience with finance and budgeting
  • Comprehend project deadlines
  • Capable of holding self and the team to the highest standards while adhering to the laws, regulations, ethics, company policies, etc.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with direct reports, fellow employees, and customers
  • Demonstrate strong emotional intelligence, interperson l skills, and the ability to adapt to different situations and environments when interacting with individuals at all levels of the organization, including direct reports, peers, and superiors

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with various types of building envelope packages (ACM, architectural metals, insulated metal panels, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of current building codes, construction markets, and construction methods

Working Conditions

  • 95% office-based work, 5% jobsite visits/meetings
