JOB SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse at D'Youville Pavilion is an essential member of the patient care team, responsible for the delivery of direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process in all areas of the unit. The RN will be responsible for assessing patients on admission and throughout their stay, developing and periodically updating the individualized, multidisciplinary plans of care, reviewing discharge plans/instructions with patients/families, and documenting a discharge summary. They would administer medications, IV therapy, blood, and its components according to established clinical standards and policies.

3 East is a 31-bed specialized unit, working with Alzheimer's/dementia residents, and tailoring care to meet their needs. Key aspects of this unit are the use of both verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, understanding the difficult behaviors that are sometimes associated with residents that have Alzheimer's/Dementia, as well as understanding that these behaviors can be valid communications. It provides needed care to those residents needing long-term placement in a home-like environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

  • Associates Degree in Nursing Required

  • Valid State of Maine RN license required

  • BLS certification required

    EXPERIENCE

    At least 1-year previous experience preferred, but not required

    OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required

  • Highly organized

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
