       Louisa-Muscatine Elementary School is seeking a School Administration Manager for the 2024/25 school year. The SAM will provide operational, logistical, and school administrative support not directly connected to instruction or student learning. The School Administration Manager (SAM) is a strategy designed to change the role of the principal from the managerial leader to the instructional leader, resulting in an increase in time spent on improving teaching and learning. The SAM will answer directly to the building administrator(s) and focus on six areas of administrative support:

  • Student supervision in non-instructional areas of the school.

  • Student discipline/behavior management

  • Supervision of non-teaching school staff.

  • School facilities and management.

  • Interaction with parents on non-instructional matters.

  • Support in front office tasks.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Support the vision and mission of the District as well as building vision that sets high expectations for students and staff.

  • Understand, support, and help the building principal implement change efforts at the District and/or building level.

  • Assume responsibility for management of the school in the absence of the building principal.

  • Prepare reports, records, and all other necessary paperwork as required.

  • Implement a positive, effective student management system to include monitoring and improving student attendance.

  • Maintain high standards of student conduct and enforces an effective student discipline plan as necessary according to due process.

  • Assist with bus discipline.

  • Develop a professional rapport and good working relationship with all staff members.

  • Address and resolve problems/issues in a timely manner.

  • Maintain accurate records as required by federal, state, and local officials.

  • Adhere to applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations, Board Policies and Administrative Regulations.

  • Administer policies and procedures in a fair and equitable manner.

  • Maintain confidentiality in the school operation.

  • Treat students, staff, community members, and all other contacts fairly, equitably, and with dignity and respect.

  • Plan and supervise disaster preparation, fire drills and emergency preparedness program.

  • Assist the principal with the safety and security of the building and maintain a safe environment for all students, staff, and the public. Provide for accurate inventories of property to ensure systems operate safely, efficiently, and effectively.

  • Maintain a positive image for the school as well as good public relations within the community.

  • Maintain a positive rapport with students, staff, and community.

  • Demonstrate professionalism in fulfilling the responsibilities of the SAM position.

  • Demonstrate a positive approach toward school, students and SAM position and communicate the same to the community.

  • Cooperate with and work in a courteous manner with central office, co-workers and other personnel.

  • Work with various members of the central administrative staff on problems/projects of District-wide importance.

  • Effectively communicate, collaborate, and cooperate with administration, colleagues, supervisors, and students.

  • Keep abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.

  • Ability to capitalize on performance feedback and constructively seek to improve performance responsibilities.

  • Participate in management team meetings and activities as directed.

  • Maintain a positive image for the school as well as good public relations within the community.

  • Regular and reliable attendance.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient in computer skills such as word processing, spreadsheet and database applications (Word, Excel, etc.).

  • Ability to work flexible hours/schedule.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.

  • Must be able to bend arms, torso, and neck.

  • Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting staff/students to include moving/rearranging furniture and/or restraining disruptive students.

  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be able to supervise staff and students in all types of weather, meet multiple demands from several people, and interact with the public and other staff.
