Description of the Job

The press operator is in charge of loading the proper film and ink, getting the press ready for print jobs as allocated, and reviewing the film for faults or blots to ensure quality. Moving finished jobs to the pallet for pickup is another duty of this profession.

Duties

Assemble the press and all necessary print job supplies, including anilox, ink, film, etc.

Use the colors and gear sizes specified in the specification sheet.

Verify the color and positioning of the ink on the film, then fine-tune the anilox rolls and plates to make sure the work is printing as intended.

Verify that UPC codes can be scanned.

Responsiblely manage and handle hazardous waste

Wear the appropriate PPE, abide by safety regulations, and fulfill OSHA's safety standards.

Carry out preventative maintenance.

Essential Skills

Knowledge of using a printing press (gravure, litho, stack, or flexo)

Being able to read a measuring device

The capacity to read, write, and comprehend clear, basic instructions

Experience in production

Work Environment

Food packaging manufacturing facility. Climate controlled. Hair net, ear plugs, and steel toes required. No makeup or fake nails or eyelashes can be worn during work. Shifts Open: Rotating Days, Rotating Nights, Mon-Thurs Nights, WKND Nights.
