Argonne National Laboratory Environmental Protection and Sustainability 2 in Lemont, Illinois
Provides support for the implementation of specific environmental regulatory area(s). Participates in detailed phases of work for major regulatory program(s). With supervision, provides guidance to the Laboratory support and research programs regarding environmental regulatory issues.
Position Requirements
Moderate knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and methods of compliance with these regulations. This can include the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, regulatory waste regulations, or other regulatory programs.
Limited knowledge of environmental management systems, the standards that apply to them, and methods of documenting compliance with these standards.
Knowledge of environmental science or engineering. Some knowledge of radioactivity in the environment is desirable.
Moderate knowledge in project management, plant operations, and construction techniques, and the interrelationships these activities have with environmental regulatory compliance issues.
Skill in the interpretation of environmental data, such as for environmental contamination, corrective measures and reporting procedures.
Moderate knowledge in proactive identification of requirements for environmental compliance and compliance program planning.
Skill in communication, both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of related disciplines, e.g., environmental surveillance, effluent monitoring and chemical toxicity is required.
Skill in collecting environmental monitoring samples and in trending environmental data.
Demonstrated ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and to achieve desired goals on schedule and within budget.
Ability to prioritize, plan and deliver workflow in a time-sensitive environment, while maintaining the ability to remain flexible and adjust to changing situations.
Ability to prepare for and respond to any emergency incident within and outside of normal business hours, including weekends and holidays.

The expected hiring range for this position is $67,639.00 - $106,725.06.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
