Dartmouth Health Senior Echo Cardiology Technologist - Pediatrics in Lebanon, New Hampshire
Overview
Performs the duties of a cardiac Sonographer and expands proficiencies of modalities to include 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler, 3-D LVEF Echocardiograms.Assists with trans-esophageal and fetal echocardiograms as skill sets allow, and basic pediatric (congenital) and adult congenital echocardiograms.Provides training to echo trainees and participates in defined areas of leadership within the department.
Responsibilities
Performs all pediatric/adult cardiac echocardiogram procedures. Edits tracings, makes measurements and enters data into computer. Distinguishes between normal and abnormal cardiac findings.
Performs cardiac sonographer duties to meet departmental needs including recognizing arrhythmias and implications of specific cardiac and related diagnoses to obtain optimal studies. Operates complex equipment accordingly.
Performs pediatric/adult echoes on call.
Expands proficiencies of modalities and learns new machines with minimal oversight.
Participates in regularly scheduled imaging conference presentations.
Assists in preparing, reviewing, updating and maintaining the policy and procedure manual as well as the clinical resource manual and materials.
Facilitates patient flow within the section and maintains a pro-active approach in dealing with patient concerns.
Seeks and develops new measures to improve the quality of patient care using a multi-disciplinary approach.
Plans and executes improvement efforts and resolves issues. Participates in Quality Assurance and quality control programs.
Works with the quality control section to achieve section and departmental quality standards in order to maintain Joint Commission and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance, and any other regulations specific to the section.
Ensures that equipment failures are reported and documented and that all equipment and supplies are available.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Associates Degree from accredited cardiac ultrasound program with 3 years of experience/or RDCS-eligible background with 3 years of cardiac echo experience.
Proficiency on all equipment in the lab
Required Licensure/Certifications
Certified through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in Adult Echocardiography or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) in Adult Echocardiography.
Licensed by the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in the state of New Hampshire.
BLS certification required.
