Indian Health Service Physician (OB/GYN) in Lawton, Oklahoma

Summary This position serves as a Physician (Obstetrics and Gynecology) located in the Women's Clinic, located at the Lawton Indian Hospital, Lawton, OK. The position reports to the Clinical Director. This position is open until filled. Responsibilities Provide direct medical services including diagnostic, preventive and therapeutic services for Obstetrics and Gynecological inpatients and outpatients. Follow patients during prenatal care, performs deliveries, including forceps and cesarean sections, and provides post-partum follow-up care. Ensure appropriate medical records are maintained and updated. Communicate effectively with patients and families with multiple health problems and of different backgrounds. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the degree requirement for a physician position. DEGREE: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States as demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy Medicine degree, all candidates must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting. GRADUATE TRAINING 1-year internship program which involved a broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics- gynecology, and pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training by a recognized body of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). First year of a residency program which involved training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by a recognized body of the American Medical Association (AMA) or Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Fellowship program which involved advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the United States for such training. 1-year internship program which involved a broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics- gynecology, and pediatrics). BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): This physician position provides direct patient care; as such, all eligible candidates must meet the licensure requirement. LICENSURE: Possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-15: At least 5 years of equivalent experience in the specialty of the position to be filled. OR completed 5 years of graduate training (internship, residency or fellowship program) in the specialty of the position to be filled. OR combination of experience and equivalent graduate training (internship, residency, or fellowship program) in the specialty of the position to be filled that when combined total at least 5 years. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
