GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The IT - Deskside Engineer at OrthoNY is a pivotal role within the IT department, providing technical end-user support and maintaining deskside infrastructure, including PCs and peripherals. They support the helpdesk for desktop issues, monitor helpdesk communications, and act as backup support. Additionally, they document infrastructure changes and assist the IT team with various projects and initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build, install, configure, and maintain PCs and peripheral devices (such as printers, scanners, faxes, mobile/smart phones) related to desktop infrastructure, in accordance with department standards. This includes maintaining an imaging process.

  • Provide day to day support to the OrthoNY helpdesk for desktop related issues (includes the devices listed in Duty #1).

  • Provide support to the OrthoNY Helpdesk (take calls during and after business hours, monitor helpdesk e-mail, etc.) - Act as backup support to Helpdesk Specialist;

  • Regularly develop and maintain documentation that corresponds to changes in the organization’s deskside infrastructure (including hardware inventories);

  • Provide support to greater OrthoNY IT team for maintenance/projects/initiatives as directed by Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College degree required;

  • 3 years’ recent technical experience required, 5 years preferred;

  • Medical practice experience a plus;

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, Windows OS, Office 365, Active Directory. Familiarity with Dell/HE hardware, VmWare, and/or Pure/Azure VDI desired;

  • A+ certification desired;

  • Must have the ability to constantly position self to maintain computers in our offices including, but not limited to, maneuvering under desks and in the server areas (bending and twisting), as well as the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis;

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.

OTHER INFORMATION

  • This position requires travel to and between practice locations and related companies, as needed.

  • Reliable transportation is essential.

  • Will periodically require long hours and/or calls or work outside normal business hours.
