Ace Hardware Senior Market Development Manager - Western Division in Las Vegas, Nevada

The Job

As the Senior Marketing Development Manager (Sr. MDM) you will be responsible for the new store growth in a group of territories within the western division. This responsibility will include leading a team of Market Development Managers on meeting and exceeding their new business targets. As well as an individual new business goal.

This purpose is principally three-fold:

a) Lead and motivate the Market Development Managers to effectively and efficiently recruit, educate, and motivate potential candidates to open high performing Ace stores. This includes sales, the development of business plans and consulting with existing Ace retailers, new investors and competitor conversion or acquisition candidates.

b) Lead and motivate the Market Development Managers to execute the technical operating procedures from Interest-to-Application. As the expert in the field, they are responsible for everything from demographic work, trade potential, sales forecasting, site audit, and the expansion area notification process. This includes creating the proforma and securing approval from all stakeholders, executing the letter of intent (LOI), assisting with securing financing, and completion of the Ace membership application following Standard Operating Procedures.

c) Lead and motivate the Market Development Managers to develop the market and pursue every opportunity in a market as it relates to potential candidates (new investors, existing Ace retailers, conversion prospects or acquisitions), open markets, real estate site possibilities, lender relationships, broker relationships and public relations..

What you’ll do

  • Lead and support 4-5 Market Development Managers. Analyze strengths and weaknesses of the team to grow the Ace Brand, driving retail and wholesale sales and expense efficiency in both the short-term and long-term

  • Develop and manage a new business pipeline to achieve an individual activation goal

  • Strong leadership skills in coaching and developing employees including mentoring the team, supporting their professional development, evaluating job performance and productivity according to key metrics and driving continuous improvement of existing and newly established initiatives

  • Educate, consult and motivate New Investors, Ace Retailers and Conversion prospects on Ace new store opportunities. This process is primarily driven by the Senior MDM’s ability to ensure that the MDM’s can outline the opportunity while still balancing the capitalization cost structure, equity requirements, and assuring that debt and financial ratios are adequate for each type of prospect

  • Develop credible relationships with lenders, business and real estate brokers to foster growth and excitement in the market in an efficient manner for retailers & prospects looking to expand and grow their business

What you need to succeed

  • College Degree Preferred or Business or equivalent experience

  • Leadership capability and skills to achieve continued organizational improvements, results, and functional successes.

  • 5+ years of related work experience (Retail, Sales, etc.)

  • Ability to create strong, respected coalitions with Retail Operations including, Regional Manager, Project Manager, and District Manager

  • Ability to develop, secure, and close a new store opportunity

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Strong presentation skills to a variety of ‘audiences’ including wealthy investors, real estate brokers, lenders and existing Ace retailers

  • Interpersonal ability to create trust, respect and understanding

  • Business Acumen – understand the economics of business and retailing

  • Understanding of the lease negotiation process

  • Strong grasp of capitalization and financing opportunities, methods and processes

  • Understanding of the balance between the benefit of store density and cannibalization and the resultant ramifications of these on the Ace brand

Compensation Details:

$115000 - $143500 Per Year
