Southwest Gas Corporation Gas Supply Analyst I in Las Vegas, Nevada

The Analyst I/Gas Scheduling is an individual contributor responsible for the logistics and accounting of transporting natural gas supplies for Southwest Gas Corporation (SWG or Company) on company-owned and third- party pipelines. This position is responsible for validating and maintaining various software programs utilized in the daily forecasting, scheduling, tracking, and recording of natural gas supplies. In addition, this position is responsible for evaluating and reconciling the output of these systems to effectively track the movement of gas on multiple pipelines for use by SWG customers, and documenting and communicating consumption, trend information, and metrics to a variety of internal and external clients, including SWG transportation customers and their agents.

POSITION DIMENSIONS

The incumbent does not have accountability for personnel or budgets. There are clear precedents and practices that the incumbent uses as guidelines to determine how this job is performed. The incumbent very frequently exchanges information with other employees outside of the Gas Scheduling Department and outside the Gas Supply area.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires one to three years of relevant work experience and a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, computer science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential job responsibilities. This position also requires good written and oral communication skills, in addition to PC software skills to be capable of maintaining Microsoft Word documents and complex Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position operates on a 4-day work-week schedule which includes partial coverage of holidays and weekends. This position offers a hybrid work from home (WFH) schedule.

  • Perform daily scheduling and confirmation processes on company-owned and third party pipelines

  • Monitor BTU and SCADA data to ensure accurate and timely identification and correction of anomalies associated with RTUs in conjunction with Gas System Support Staff

  • Coordinate the reconciliation of moderate exceptions between third party pipelines, gas purchasing, transportation customer nominations and confirmations, and accounting

  • Analyze and assess the accuracy of daily weather and load forecasting models on a routine basis

  • Become knowledgeable of Company and upstream pipeline tariffs, North American Energy Standards Board requirements, federal and state requirements in order to administer and comply with all rules and regulations

  • Evaluate existing systems and procedures and recommend enhancements to continuously improve department and system efficiencies

  • Document and maintain department procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements (FERC, Sarbanes-Oxley, PHMSA) to ensure compliance

  • Be proficient in the use of the internet, upstream pipeline nomination software, including on-line and batch computer systems]

  • Develop and maintain good productive relationships with supplier, upstream pipeline, and customer representatives

  • Provide On-Call duties

  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

SALARY DETAILS

Las Vegas: $65,100 - $94,400
