Job Summary and Qualifications

Join our team as a Surgical Services Aide and play a vital role to providing high-quality, patient-centered care by assisting with the care of patients throughout the surgical process. The Surgical Services Aide assists with transporting patients to/from surgical areas. The Surgical Services Aide also prepares the operating room for procedures by stocking supplies, cleaning workstations, and organizing equipment. The Surgical Services Aide maintains a safe, clean, hazard-free environment for patients, families, and staff.

  • Obtains various equipment for upcoming surgeries including carts, video equipment, and positioning devices.

  • Maintains and stocks fluids, linens, PPE, and other supplies in the operating suite.

  • Verifies identification of each patient being transferred.

  • Transports and transfers patients using good body mechanics and safety measures. Observe proper precautions for patients with mobility issues or attached medical equipment.

  • Transports various specimens safely to appropriate departments.

  • Assists with cleaning and turnover of the OR rooms between cases and at the end of the day. Returns equipment to appropriate storage locations promptly after cleaning and appropriate disinfection.

What qualifications you will need:

The Operating Room Assistant performs direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting and assists in maintaining a safe, clean environment.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Follow specific procedures to perform terminal cleaning of the OR and prepare rooms for new patients

  • Use industrial cleaning agents and equipment following appropriate safety procedures

  • Clean and make stretchers/beds

  • Assist in the turnover of all OR rooms between cases

  • Stock all assigned areas and deliver specimens/blood to the lab

  • Transport patients as directed by nurse

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • 6 months housekeeping experience preferred

  • Heavy lifting may also be required (25lbs-75lbs)
