Performs routine material tests and manufacturing process inspections in laboratories, plants and at points of supply. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.Essential Duties: Cleans laboratory Inspects materials at point of supply to ensure materials conform to Department specifications. Performs construction inspection. Performs routine materials tests and inspects manufacturing processes and plant equipment in a manufacturing plant to ensure materials conform to Department specifications; as required moves material samples. Prepares and types correspondence, reports and supporting documents; files, orders supplies and equipment. Receives training in material specifications and inspections procedures and techniques. Records test data on worksheets and performs calculations to convert raw data into specific unit of measurement. Secures, logs in and prepares samples of raw materials or manufactured materials at various stages of products for testing. Specializes in testing a particular type of material. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
