Job Description

Assists with carpentry related to street construction and other skilled laborers on special projects (i.e. sidewalks, valley gutters, bridges, etc.)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

• Uses and maintains specialized carpentry equipment in the completion of projects for the City.
• Builds small frame buildings and partitions; builds desks, tables, cabinets and finishes furniture.
• Estimates material needed for each job.
• Assists plumbers in the excavation and installation of PVC pipes.
• Produces specialized pieces for furniture and other equipment.
• Assists in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors and other business contacts.
• Assists electricians in the installation of lamps, fixtures, and the changing of bulbs.
• Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES

Knowledge of:

Knowledge of standards, practices, tools, methods and procedures used in carpentry.

Knowledge of construction practices and the coordination of skilled labor on various projects.
