DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will collaborate closely with mechanics to acquire the necessary skills for safe and efficient operation within an automotive garage environment. As an intern, you will develop competencies in general repairs and maintenance for cars and light trucks, assisting with or executing various repair tasks. You will also utilize power, hand, and air tools once you have demonstrated proficiency, while ensuring the cleanliness and servicing of your work area and tools. Adherence to safety protocols will be mandatory at all times. Your responsibilities will encompass general repair and preventative maintenance tasks, including oil and tire changes, brake inspections and replacements, exhaust system evaluations and replacements, suspension inspections and repairs, air conditioning diagnostics and repairs, as well as documenting repairs and interpreting work orders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Work schedule will vary based on agreement between high school and COPA location This internship will begin as follows: Seniors - The internship would be for the 2024-2025 school year.

Juniors - The internship would be for the 2024-2025 school year, and may include: summer 2025, and the 2025-2026 school year.

During breaks may be able to work up to 40 hours.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Must be at least 16 years old at time of hire. Must be in a junior- or senior-year status during the 2024-25 school year, Must have completed sophomore year of high school at time of hire.

Additional Requirements: Must be a Traditional high school student or a vo-tech (career and technical center) student in an approved cooperative vocational training program that has prepared the student for the duties and the description of work described in this posting. Letter of Recommendation: You must attach a Letter of Recommendation from your school's co-op coordinator, career or guidance counselor, or similar designated school professional indicating you meet your school's requirements and are being recommended for this opportunity. Work Permit: Minors will be required to submit their Work Permit upon acceptance of this position. By participating in this program, the student and school agree to use the Commonwealth's Training Plan, Statement of Responsibilities, and Student Performance Evaluation. Forms will be provided to the student upon acceptance of this position. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
