Our state-of-the-art investment casting facility in La Porte, Indiana is seeking a Process Engineer- Post Cast Process Owner to join our team. Nestled halfway between South Bend and Chicago, along the shores of Lake Michigan - our facility in La Porte, Indiana supplies jet engine components to some of the most trusted names in the Aerospace industry.
This position is responsible for ensuring that the Post Cast processes (e.g. mold knock-out, abrasive cutting, rough finishing, sand blasting, etc.) are performed in compliance with the methods, materials, and equipment specifications as detailed in the business unit process manual and/or plant-specific requirements in addition to any applicable customer requirements. The Process Owner is accountable for process improvement, control and standardization in the assigned area and works closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and other stakeholders.
Job responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following:
Monitor key variables of the manufacturing sub-processes (e.g. knock-out, cutting, grinding, and cleaning) to determine process stability.
Drive process stability and improvements through structured process monitoring and by promoting best practice methodologies and new technologies.
Perform/ lead and report on monthly process reviews.
Ensure the timely and effective resolution of issues resulting from internal, peer, and external audits.
Assume responsibility for integrity of assigned process requirements.
Interact with internal and external customers to understand technical requirements and resolve issues.
Responsible for determination of the root cause of any deviation from critical process specifications and provide technical support to Process and Product Engineering to resolve post cast process related issues.
Contribute to Business Unit new technology adaptation and validation efforts.
Responsible for understanding downstream product quality as it relates to the post cast processes and react appropriately to observed conditions.
Institute proper project monitoring, follow up and feedback system to ensure financial and contract targets are met. (Example: Yields and Rework).
Foster continuous improvement utilizing process management, designed experiments, Six Sigma, and statistical process control.
As a recognized expert in the Post Cast processing technology area, provide technical guidance to management and peers in areas of current or potential needs of the plant.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree is required.
Potential candidate shall have a minimum of three years' experience in the processing of castings or other metallic products.
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference given to Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or Manufacturing Engineering.
Experience in engineered metal component manufacturing.
Must possess exceptional written, oral communication, and presentation skills.
Certified in Six Sigma with a minimum of a green belt.
Able to read blueprints and conceptualize product configurations.
Strong analytical abilities.
Experience with statistical data analysis.
Experience in synchronous manufacturing and Kaizens.
