Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Traffic Monitoring Operator Supervisor to be based in Lansing, MI.

Job Summary

The Traffic Monitoring Operator Supervisor have day-to-day oversight of control room activities, scheduling, and operations tasks, with the responsibility of general organization of control room activities and keeping appropriate personnel informed to facilitate the smooth and balanced operation of the control room. The shift supervisor plays a proactive role in ensuring that goals and deadlines are met by monitoring progress and keeping the Program Manager and Control Room Manager well informed with up-to-date reports.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates operations by guiding critical control room operation decisions

  • Generates reports across a range of control room systems and services

  • Provides direct work supervision to staff, making decisions in time sensitive situations and coordinating with client and other stakeholders outside the facility.

  • Supports continued staff training, coaching and mentoring to maximize performance.

  • Balances work loads of control room staff by instructing staff to assist others as required, by assigning reporting tasks or projects during less busy times and by ensuring that staff resources are being utilized effectively and efficiently.

  • Maintains in depth domain knowledge of all TOC functions including maintaining the ability to perform all operations floor duties as needed.

  • Communicates daily with Control Room Manager regarding workload capacity, quality, staffing levels, training needs and overall operational efficiency

  • Actively reviews traffic management activity for accuracy and appropriateness, and provides guidance and feedback to staff.

  • Is responsible for the performance management, behavior and professionalism of designated control room staff.

  • Monitors quality control within area of responsibility.

  • Continuous supervision of staff 24/7/365, and on call outside normal shift

  • Proactive development of special events response plans

  • Conducts quality audits with team

  • Assist with daily operations / incident management as needed

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • HS + 2 or more years prior experience as a Traffic Monitoring Operator or other related experience.

  • Michigan Driver’s License in good standing

  • Drug and alcohol testing is required for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree and 2+ years of operations management experience or a combination of qualified work experience and education

  • Full range of physical mobility, visual acuity, and general good health

  • Demonstrated leadership experience

  • Radio and phone communications experience

  • Geographic familiarity with State of Michigan Interstate system

  • Computer proficiency: Windows environment, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook); typing minimum 25 wpm; organized file management

  • Scheduling flexibility

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $28.00/hour - $36.00/hour.
