Job Description The STAGES Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) -CONTRACTOR is a state certified teacher responsible for providing services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing (D/HH). The scope of services and supports provided by the teacher will be determined by the students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). The teacher serves as a collaborative member of a team that supports students identified as D/HH in a virtual academic environment. The Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Contractor may be asked to obtain licensure in multiple states and serve students across multiple schools. This is an Independent Consultant position (1099). This is a Full-Time role M-F Between the hours of 8am and 5pm ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties. * Ensure all assigned services are provided as determined by the IEP team by: * Communicating with parents and teachers to develop a schedule that encourages regular attendance and participation by the student * Developing progress reports and other state-specific required special education documentation * Using provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities such as assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text are made available * Maintain compliance with state, school, and company regulations * Instruct students/families/teachers in the use of appropriate communication strategies and technologies for the purpose of minimizing the adverse educational impact of hearing impairments and improving student success in the classroom * Serve as Teacher of Record (TOR) for assigned caseload * Maintain files and/or records using specified systems, e.g., progress reports, activity logs, treatment plans, reports, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability of information as required for reference and/or compliance * Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress toward Individual Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives * Document all contact with parents and interventions with students * Provide rich and engaging educational experiences for students * Commitment to personalizing learning for all students * Demonstrate a belief in all students' ability to succeed and meet high expectations * Understand that a primary responsibility is to establish and maintain a positive rapport with families and regularly communicates with and responds to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner * Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information * Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, caregivers, and school staff * Be available to students, caregivers, and staff during designated work hours * Work from a professional home office environment, conducive to video and audio needs and a structured schedule * Must be self-motivated, dependable, creative, and passionate about meeting the needs of students Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 2 years experience in public school environment as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Certificates and Licenses: State specific educator license in area of Deaf and Hard of Hearing or related field DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Ability to work independently, with availability during typical school hours of at least 20 hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9 - 5 as defined by the school and time zone * Experience teaching in an online/virtual environment * Proficient in ASL * Strong content and subject-matter knowledge * An ability to support and guide adults as well as students * Receptive to receiving coaching on a regular basis with administrators * Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellen
