Intermountain Health Registered Nurse Intake in Lansing, Michigan

Job Description:

Performs telephone assessment of the needs of referred patients by determining appropriateness for admission and coordinating services. Provides excellent customer service to all referral sources and participates in agency marketing effort. Is responsible for triage and patient placement. Acts as a clinical resource to the health care team.

Intake Process: Completes the intake process according to agency guidelines.

Documentation: Obtains and evaluates appropriateness and completeness of initial physician's orders and ensures completion of documentation.

Insurance Eligibility: Determines eligibility through an understanding of Medicare regulations, private pay options or by contacting third party payers.

Customer Service: Utilizes effective communication skills with all customers/co-workers in a timely, concise, clear, and positive manner.

Posting Specifics

Shift Details:

Week 1- Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 12 hour shifts

Week 2- Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 12 hour shifts

Compensation and Benefits:

Minimum Qualifications

Current RN licensure

One year acute patient care or homecare experience

Basic computer skills/excellent customer service skills

Must be able to work independently, prioritize and perform detailed work in a fast paced team environment

Ability to exercise courtesy, tact, and sensitivity with team members and customers

RNs with less than 12 months of working experience as an RN prior to joining Intermountain must obtain their BSN within five years of their start date.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution

Homecare, insurance or other third party payer experience

Prior leadership experience

Horizon computer software experience

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, and driving a vehicle.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of furniture, equipment, power cords on the floor, etc). Need to ascend and descend stairs or uneven surface in order to access patients.

Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$34.19 - $50.73
