Position Summary: The PR and Content Intern will collaborate closely with the Content Strategists to develop and execute public relations and content initiatives. Their responsibilities include drafting press materials, managing content calendars and supporting media outreach efforts. They will also assist in creating engaging written content for blogs, newsletters and social media, ensuring alignment with the brand and messaging strategies. Work Arrangement: Hybrid arrangement. Expectation to work onsite on Tuesdays and one other day each week at the Lansing or Troy office. Work Schedule: Part-Time up to 29 hours/week; 9:00AM - 5:00PM Monday-Friday Paid Hourly Internship: $15.00/hour Duration: 12 Weeks during the summer; continuing into the school year may be offer pending schedule and work performance An offer of employment with MSU Federal Credit Union and affiliates is contingent upon the agreed work arrangement (onsite/hybrid/remote) and work location. MSU Federal Credit Union may or may not be able to accommodate temporary or permanent changes to work arrangements or allow employment outside the city and/or state of residency in which the new hire resides at the time of offered employment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Assist in drafting and editing press releases, media pitches and other public relations materials to ensure alignment with brand voice and messaging. Support the creation and distribution of content for newsletters, blogs and social media channels to enhance audience engagement. Collaborate with the public relations team to maintain and update media contact lists, ensuring accuracy. Monitor media coverage and compile daily or weekly reports summarizing key trends and mentions relevant to the agency or its clients. Assist in the coordination of public relations events, including press conferences, events and community programs. Research and propose content ideas that align with ongoing campaigns and contribute to overall marketing objectives. Proofread content for grammar, style and consistency across multiple platforms and formats. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required. Pursuing a degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or a related field. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to grammar and style. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of social media platforms and their best practices for content and PR purposes. Displays creativity and a keen eye for crafting compelling narratives. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with team members and external stakeholders. Proactive and eager to learn new skills, tools and industry trends. Physical Demands and Work Environment: May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
