AF Group Infrastructure Engineer II (Linux/Windows) in Lansing, Michigan

We are seeking a skilled Infrastructure Engineer II with expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7/8 and Windows Server 2022/2016/2012 to join our team. This role is crucial in maintaining, securing, and optimizing our server infrastructure while providing technical support across multiple teams. Key Responsibilities: * Administer and support RHEL and Windows Server environments, ensuring stability, security, and optimal performance. * Provide Tier I Help Desk support, assisting with file share permissions, user access management, and troubleshooting system issues. * Perform patching and system updates to maintain compliance and security best practices. * Manage user accounts, including additions, removals, and periodic audits for security and access control. * Monitor system health using LogicMonitor, respond to alarms, and proactively troubleshoot and restore servers based on alerts. * Install and uninstall server software as required to meet operational and security needs. * Work closely with development teams to diagnose and resolve application and performance issues as they arise. * Participate in IT projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure initiatives and ensure seamless user experiences. * Engage directly with end users to resolve issues, provide technical guidance, and ensure a smooth IT experience. EDUCATION * Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field required. * Certification or progress toward certification of, industry-recognized professional designation preferred and encouraged. * Combinations of relevant education and work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. * Continuous learning, as defined by Company's learning philosophy, is required. EXPERIENCE * 5 years' experience within an IT environment which provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities. * One-year relevant experience supporting personal computers in a multi-site, multi-platform environment as well as telephone support of remote staff preferred. * Experience within the insurance industry highly preferred. QUALIFICATIONS * Hands-on experience with RHEL 7/8 and Windows Server 2022/2016/2012 administration. * Strong troubleshooting skills in server management, patching, and performance tuning. * Familiarity with file shares, permissions management, and security auditing. * Experience with monitoring tools like LogicMonitor and the ability to respond to system alerts efficiently. * Ability to collaborate with Help Desk and Development teams to support business-critical applications. * Strong communication skills with a user-focused approach to problem-solving. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards. PAY RANGE: Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate's skills and professional experience, geographic location, market and other potential factors. It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $63,300 and $143,600 We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
