The Opportunity

This role is on a hybrid schedule in our Detroit office, in office a few days a week on a weekly basis with some remote days each week

Ally’s Independent Risk Management (IRM) function is responsible for objective and critical assessment of risks and through oversite, effective challenge, and other means evaluation of whether Ally remains aligned with its risk appetite and risk limits. Reporting to the Director of Insurance Risk, the Associate Actuary will be responsible for participating in multiple initiatives by covering actuarial aspects of key products and processes, developing new and enhancing current analyses, providing feedback to the business line, and communicating results to leadership in support of Insurance Risk’s broader actuarial initiatives.

The Work Itself

  • Opportunity involves actuarial review over a wide range of products with the potential for exposure to property and casualty, and finance and insurance products
  • Support review and challenge of key pricing and reserving activities by assisting management and providing independent perspective of pricing and product refreshes and reserving adjustments
  • Gain technical expertise in Ally Dealership Insurance and Vehicle Protection products
  • Foster innovation within the team and support development of themselves and other associates
  • Build and maintain Insurance Risk’s consumption data infrastructure, enabling confident access across toolsets including Snowflake, Python, and R for Insurance Risk teammates and business partners
  • Ability to organize and document their work product for internal and external governance and continuity
  • Work collaboratively as a part of IRM to support comprehensive risk management

The Skills You Bring

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in risk management, finance, economics, actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or related field
  • Actively pursuing ACAS designation with at least 2 of the 6 exams already completed
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented with ability to adapt and easily adjust priorities as needed
  • Knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and concepts
  • Ability to perform technical based activities, including programming skills in key tools (R, SAS, or Python).

Base Pay Range:

Emerging: 60000

Experienced: 72500

Expert: 85000

Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan
