Air Combat Command Recreation Assistant (Fitness and Sports) in Langley AFB, Virginia

Summary About the position: This is a Temporary Intermittent position, not to exceed 30 April 2025 and will be assigned to the Fitness Center on Langley Air Force Base. This position has no guaranteed hours. Incumbent may be scheduled from 0 to 40 hours per week. Responsibilities Performs and/or assists in operation and maintenance of the Fitness and Sports program and facilities. Enforces customer access and priority IAW established procedures and regulatory guidance. Establishes schedules of events as well as the rules and regulations to be observed. Types of duties include, but are not limited to the following: issues, receives, cleans and maintains equipment; safely demonstrates equipment and techniques of various fitness and sports activities; sets up areas for daily use, sports events, tournaments, and practice games when such assignments require a practical knowledge of the rules and procedures of such activities; inspects sports facilities and equipment for security and general conditions, performing cleaning duties as required to ensure safe operating conditions; and schedules areas for use, with responsibility for seeing that they are vacated or returned in good order. Provides customers with information on available classes and programs, answering questions, phone calls, providing orientation of facility layout and equipment location. Assists with receipt and accounting of supply orders. Secures facilities and equipment. Collects user fees in the form of cash and credit transactions, processes cash accountability paperwork; safeguards funds and equipment. Duties may be performed inside and outside in various weather conditions. Operates government vehicles in the course of daily duties. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Experience demonstrating a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs; and practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational activities and equipment, rules and procedures in a recreation program activity which has involved recreation work in the area of specialty in which the position is assigned; ability and skill in dealing with the public. A group exercise certification and/or personal training certification is highly desirable. Must be able to continuously stand, bend, stoop, and reach for long periods of time. Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing 100 pounds or more. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.
