Job Description

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Senior Network Consulting Engineer to join our team. As a Consulting Engineer, you will be part of the Cyber and Electronic Warfare Group supporting our Air Force customer at Langley AFB. The ideal candidate will have deep domain experience in networking as well as experience in developing enterprise network strategies and roadmaps. You must possess a current DoD TS/SCI clearance.

In this role, you will be "face to the customer" working in a fast-paced, high-impact environment as a visible contributor delivering on our commitments. The ideal candidate is a creative problem solver, comfortable with challenging the status quo and able to rapidly respond to escalated issues. With a top-tier mix of broad networking knowledge and specific area expertise, as well as excellent customer relationship skills, you're well positioned to become a trusted advisor capable of building solid, long-term relationships with customers.

The Senior Network Consulting Engineer will also be a key position internally as a part of our Integrated Solutions team serving as a thought leader to promote and advance new technologies and capabilities across our portfolio of work with multiple customers.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Designs and plans network systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.

  • Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.

  • Conducts testing of network systems.

  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.

  • Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

  • Builds and maintains consultative / trusted advisor relationship with clients.

  • Performs problem analysis and acts as technical specialist for the complex deployments and provides highest-level crisis management.

  • Proven technical project management skills.

  • Strong technical presentation skills to all levels, especially to customer senior management.

  • Leadership and mentoring skills.

  • Ability to influence at senior levels in customer organizations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 20+ years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 18+ years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 15+ years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 24 years relevant experience.

  • Must be capable of leading engineering teams,

  • Solid technical knowledge of Infrastructure systems, networking, and IT architecture best practices.

  • Experience with the following technologies: Routing, Switching, Firewalls, collaboration tools, compliance suites, End-point management systems, remote backup technologies, DHCP, Active Directory, Email system administration.

  • In-depth understanding of LAN/WAN technologies, IP networking, and telecommunications standards.

  • Proficiency in using network monitoring and management tools.

  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.

  • Active DOD TS/SCI clearance at minimum required.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with presenting to senior leadership.

  • Ability to work in a virtual team environment.

  • Experience with supporting collocated networks, Cloud Service Providers, AWS, Azure Google Cloud Platform, etc. is a plus

  • Installation, configuring, troubleshooting, and setting up the lab for various networks.

  • Testing, evaluating, and configuration management of the network.

  • Performing network engineering functions including; conceptualization, design, implementation, and optimization.

  • Able to conduct research into networking issues as required with proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Development/Automation, scripting experience using Python or Ansible a plus.
