Overview

The Director, Quality provides leadership and direction for Graham Packaging Quality Assurance strategic initiatives to achieve short and long term quality improvement objectives as it relates to Operations and external Customer quality performance.

This position will be accountable and own overall quality improvements and results as they relate to quality management systems, personnel development / growth, customer performance / relationships, continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality at manufacturing facilities and lead the organization in achieving positive results in quality metrics.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works to ensure a safe working environment for all employees targeting a zero accident incident rate

  • Manages the internal Technical Services team which includes but not limited to scheduling of customer visits, customer prioritization, training, performance evaluations, coaching / mentoring, and cost control along with organization of technical reports / customer feedback.

  • Top level accountability for quality performance and improvements

  • Possesses a high working knowledge of all six elements of the Graham Operating System (GOS) and become a certified auditor in order to assist GOS Deployment Managers during plant assessments.

  • Assumes leadership role as an expert in Quality systems / improvements and problem solving methodologies

  • Provides guidance and support to manufacturing plants on compliance to the requirements outlined in the Graham Operating System Assessment. Assists plants with compliance deficiencies outlined in action plans for their self-assessment and/or formal assessment.

  • Helps develop the overall Quality Vision and Long Term Planning for Year over Year improvmeents. Works against a “tactical” action plan to assure Long Term Planning initiatives are completed in a timely manner.

  • Leads complex problem solving events using high level statistical tools and strategy.

  • Manages and works directly with 3 rd party auditing agencies (FSSC 22000 & ISO 9001) on plant network schedules for future audits.

  • Mentors and works closely with Business Unit Quality Managers in supporting improvements throughout the organization with performance and system compliance.

  • Works closely with senior leadership personnel at key customers to ensure a clear understanding of requirements that drives the highest level of customer satisfaction

  • Directs quality programs designed to ensure quality assurance and continuous improvement in quality of the manufacturing of products

  • Leverages the plant Quality Mangers in the organizational network to drive for one common goal surrounding quality improvements and enhancement of customer relations

  • Leads improvement initiatives to reduce financial impacts to the company (Warranty, Customer Complaints, Product Compliance to Specifications, HFI inventories)

  • The successful candidate will be an experienced change management leader, who can effectively work within the organization at all levels creating value and buy-in as a key change facilitator

  • Candidate will lead individuals and teams in order to establish higher standards and goals for the overall company

  • Must possess the ability to drive root-cause problem solving: collect data, establish facts, apply appropriate analytic techniques and draw valid conclusions. From this collection of information, develop action plan and guidance that will drive results and improvements

  • Candidate will have a broad working knowledge of industry standard problem solving methodologies

  • Interpret and communicate statistical data (Control Charting, Capability Analysis, Trends, FMEA, Design of Experiments, etc.)

  • Exhibit professionalism and leadership qualities in all work activities

  • Ability to motivate and lead teams, and individuals within and outside the quality function

  • Ability to implement systems to control processes and provide documentation

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities / priorities

  • Minimum of 10 years quality leadership and/or continuous improvement experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or other applicable area required

  • Plastics experience a plus

  • Six sigma Black Belt, Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement certification or equivalent

The standard compensation for this role is $142,800 - $206,300. Salary offers will be determined based on final candidate qualifications, experience, skillset, and other relevant factors.

Compensation Statement

The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.
