JOB SUMMARY

Little Lonestar Academy is an inclusive preschool committed to providing exceptional early childhood education and care for children of all abilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive and nurturing care to children ages 6 weeks to 6 years, meeting their physical, emotional, and developmental needs.

  • Create a stimulating and age-appropriate learning environment through play, exploration, and sensory experiences.

  • Establish trusting and supportive relationships with infants and their families, maintaining open and ongoing communication.

  • Follow daily routines and schedules to ensure consistency and predictability for children.

  • Implement developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum to promote cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment, adhering to health and safety guidelines.

  • Collaborate with team members and participate in professional development opportunities.

Essential Job Functions

  • Promotes a unified, collaborative atmosphere in all communications and actions.

  • Provides quality childhood education for clients of Easterseals Lonestar in whatever capacity is required in accordance with skills and training.

  • Maintains awareness of trends and best practices in the field of child Development.

Direct Services

  • Uses appropriate instructional materials, which would benefit the child’s attainment of skills in all domains as established by the Program Director.

  • Engages children in developmentally appropriate activities designed to enhance verbal communication, social skills, and prepare them for success in kindergarten.

  • Provides feedback to the Program Manager and the child’s family on interactions with the child.

  • Communicates effectively with all levels of staff in a manner that promotes a team spirit and a sense of cooperation.

Indirect Services

  • Provides support services in other areas as requested by the supervisor.

  • Maintains room arrangement.

  • Helps with preparation of materials.

  • Maintains general cleanliness of building and materials.

  • Participates in Easterseals Lonestar meetings and on committees as required and appropriate (e.g., weekly progress meetings and additional meetings with the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team).

  • Arrives on time and ready to start work.

  • Is professional in appearance and demeanor.

Required Education and Job Experience

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; CDA (Child Development Associate) or equivalent preferred.

  • Previous experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting preferred.

  • Knowledge of early childhood development and age-appropriate practices.

  • Effective communication and people skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.

  • Patient, compassionate, and a genuine love for working with children.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older as required by the State of Texas.

  • Must pass criminal background check including fingerprinting and drug screening, as required by the State of Texas.

  • Must successfully complete CPR/ First Aid training requirements and obtain certification.

  • Must possess a current valid Texas driver’s license, proof of insurance, and have a driving record that meets the standards of the agency.

  • Must manage information in a confidential manner.

  • Must have exceptional organizational skills, communication skills (oral and written) and memory required.
