Job Title: PPM Industrial Coatings Foreman--- Lakeland, FL

This is a skilled journey level coating and supervisory work involving planning, scheduling and directing painting activities. Work involves responsibility for the performance of skilled coatings task in the application of paint to a variety of surfaces with brush, air and airless spray gun. Work often requires the performance of hazardous duties ranging from scaffolding, cable spiders, ladders, and suspended work platforms. Supervision may be exercised over skilled and semi-skilled laborers. Assignments are received in oral or written form and the work is performed independently with considerable latitude for determining materials and methods used. Work is subject to inspection by a superior during process and upon completion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works outside (90% of all work is outside work). This includes coating of structures, pumps, motors and any related equipment in an industrial setting. Prepares metal surfaces to coating specifications using abrasive blast, high-pressure water, and steam cleaner, etc.

  • Inspects industrial equipment to determine painting requirements; prepares estimates of time, labor and materials needed; requisitions and issues paints and related supplies.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of a five (5) year coatings program.

  • Prepares and maintains necessary records and reports relating to maintenance and capital coatings projects.

  • Power Production only- Above done in accordance with the five (5) year plan.

  • Supervises the use of coatings that comply with chemical standards set forth by OSHA.

  • Power Production- The foreman is responsible for the development and implementation of a hazardous waste reduction program which includes volatile organic compounds, lead, etc.

  • Maintains log of daily activities, and fills out employee daily time sheets, merit recommendation and performance appraisal reviews.

Additional Requirements:

  • Prepares specifications for large Industrial Painting Projects.

  • Performs related work as required.

  • Supervises employees assigned to him or her on a permanent or temporary basis -T&D Operations only.

  • Must have experience with S.S.P.C. and/or N.A.C.E. guidelines on preparation and application of coating materials - Power Production.

Experience:

  • High school diploma from an accredited school or its equivalent.

  • Four (4) years of experience as an Industrial Coating Specialist level worker where independent judgment was applied concerning the use of industrial grade coatings. industry related surface preparation standards, hazardous material disposal, use of flammable liquids, high-pressure spray. and sandblasting equipment.

  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience in an industrial environment.

  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provide the knowledge, skills and abilities and other competencies necessary for success in the target position may be considered.

Physical Requirements/Job Site Requirements:

  • Must be able to complete hiring paperwork electronically through DocuSign

  • May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Must posses enough strength and stamina to perform the technical duties and essential functions as identified above

  • Must be able to move in and around confined spaces and uneven areas

  • Must have full range of motion consistent with age

  • Must be able to climb and maintain balance ladders

  • Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, alarms and other job-related noises

  • Visual acuity, depth perception and color discrimination consistent with that required to work at heights and on uneven surfaces

  • Safety/Steel toe shoes are required.
