Job Description

The Director of Vendor Management is responsible for establishing and overseeing the strategic direction and operational execution of the Vendor Management Office (VMO). This role will lead the development and implementation of policies, processes, and best practices for managing vendor relationships across the entire organization, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, and value optimization. This includes offshore, IT vendors.

Job Responsibility

  • Leads a vendor management group by communicating with and developing staff members, and building consensus for programs and goals that support a business, function or geographic area.

  • Develops and articulates a short-term strategic vision for areas of responsibility.

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive vendor management strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives.

  • Establishes and manages a robust vendor governance framework, including vendor risk assessment, due diligence, contract negotiation, and performance management.

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with key vendors, ensuring collaboration, communication, and proactive issue resolution.

  • Designs and implements policies, processes, and procedures for vendor onboarding, contract management, performance monitoring, and issue escalation.

  • Evaluates and implements appropriate technology solutions to automate and streamline vendor management processes.

  • Leads and develops a high-performing vendor management team, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship.

  • Develops and tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) related to vendor performance, compliance, and cost optimization.

  • Regularly reports findings and insights to senior management.

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices in vendor management. Proactively identifies and mitigates potential risks related to vendor engagement.

  • Stays abreast of industry trends and best practices in vendor management and continuously seek opportunities to enhance the VMO's effectiveness.

  • Works on complex matters where analysis of issues, data, processes and situations require advanced knowledge of functional objectives and industry/technical knowledge which may have long-term impact.

  • Responsible for directing staffing appropriately for department(s) and collaborating with HR to fulfill requirements.

Job Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience

  • 8-12 years of relevant experience and 7+ years of leadership / management experience, required.

  • Master's Degree, preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in vendor management, procurement, or a related field.

  • Proven experience leading and managing a vendor management team, including offshore vendors.

  • Strong understanding of vendor risk management, contract negotiation, and performance evaluation.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across all levels of the organization.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in vendor management software and tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive results and achieve strategic objectives.

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.When determining a team member's base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).

The salary range for this position is $130,300-$228,000/year
