American Battery Solutions Lead Prototype Build Technician in Lake Orion, Michigan
Job Summary: The Lead Prototype Build Technician is responsible for overseeing, conducting, and training staff on hands-on assembly, debugging, and verification of battery pack systems and prototypes. This position is also responsible for the assembly, debugging and launch of new products. Allocate team members to successfully complete the daily tasks. Responsibilities: * Hands-on individual contributor role responsible for the successful assembly and building of products to meet customer requirements and expectations. * Assemble products to customer requirements and company goals. * Assemble highly complex mechanical and electrical components. * Work with and reports prototyping problems to eliminate future production problems to Production Supervisor, AME, Quality, Product Engineering, and the Launch Manager. * Perform preventive maintenance/maintenance activities to support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). * Lead efforts in developing, implementing, and maintaining the Total Productive Maintenance system. (TPM) * Participate when required in Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and work instruction development and reviews. * Identify and support continuous improvement projects (e.g., cost reduction, efficiency improvements, etc.). * Responsible for updating work instructions and coordinator with AME for new revision release. * Support other Prototype areas as required. * Assist the engineering team to assemble prototype products. * Assist with specification development for machinery and equipment. * Train prototype build technicians to operational standards. * Operate diagnostic equipment without supervision. * Teach others how to run diagnostic equipment. * Work with Production Supervisor and Launch Manager to support coordination of team member scheduling and support activities. * Monitor progress to keep the build schedule on track. * Ensure materials are available to meet the production schedule. * Communicate clear instructions to team members. * Manage the flow of day-to-day operations. * Record and distribute reports to update progress and issues daily (Downtime, Daily Production, Quality Issues, etc. to calculate OEE). * Support weekend and off-shift work as required. * Support multiple facilities in other states. * Data entry into multiple platforms. * Maintain a safe and clean working environment. * Adhere to and support compliance with ergonomic guidelines. * Follow and adhere to all safety procedures and protocols. * Adhere to federal and state regulations. * Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures. * Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. * Predictable and reliable attendance. Position Qualifications: * Minimum of four (4) years manufacturing or mechanical experience. * Minimum of one (1) year of college studies in a related field (mechanical or electrical engineering, etc.) year of equivalent experience in electrification assembly line/high voltage/electrical component handling/battery manufacturing. * Demonstrated leadership experience. * Working knowledge of quality systems. * Able to work in a flexible team environment. * Knowledgeable in Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook/SharePoint. * Must be available to work various shift schedules; may need to work overtime. * Ability to travel between ABS facilities as required.
