Job Title: Control System Engineer
Job Description
The Control System Engineer is responsible for developing engineering designs, performing engineering reviews, and configuring and testing Control Systems that meet code, contract, and schedule requirements for projects. The role primarily focuses on Control Systems related to large frame industrial gas turbines in simple cycle and/or combined cycle operation with Steam Turbines. Additional responsibilities include customer training and both remote and on-site support. The scope may expand to other control systems within the plant at some future point.
Responsibilities
Work with applications, estimation, and sales groups in developing new business proposals.
Design and review new design concepts and assist in the development of new control systems.
Maintain and modify existing control systems.
Collaborate with design engineers, operations engineers, purchasers, sales & marketing, and other internal staff.
Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors, project management, and other relevant authorities within cost and time-constrained environments.
Understand and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards of the country in which work is undertaken.
Develop RFQ’s for purchasing equipment.
Configure Control System HMI and Database.
Support manufacturing and inspection of control systems, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
Support Field Operations in performing on-site installation of control systems.
Provide start-up commissioning, operations, and troubleshooting support for equipment failures, determine root cause analysis, and implement solutions.
Prepare and submit accurate reports regarding conditions, required actions, and obtained results.
Travel overnight (at least 10%) by land and/or air.
Essential Skills
5+ years of experience in control logic and control panel design.
Experience with EPlan, Programming, Netmation, PLC, DCS, UL508A, NFPA, NERC, HMI, and Control Logic.
Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience in specific control disciplines such as advanced process control (APC), distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), OPC/Modbus, and SCADA.
Basic knowledge in networking concepts.
Previous experience with DIASYS Netmation Control System, PLC, or other DCS.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with USA/International codes and standards such as UL508A, NFPA 70 & 79A, CSA C22.1, IEC-1, NEMA.
Knowledge in industrial Control Systems Cyber Security requirements such as NERC CIP and IEC.
Experience with Control System and Panels design including equipment selection, equipment layout, and I/O Module selection and assignment.
Control System retrofit experience.
Knowledge of computer programming languages such as C# or Visual Basic .Net.
Experience with EPLAN Electric P8 and Pro Panel software.
Working knowledge of power plants process, operation, and control system design.
Experience with HMI Graphic Creating Tools and High-Performance Graphics.
Experience with Control Logic programming using Function Block Diagram and Control narrative preparation.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $57.69 - $76.92/hr.
