Responsibilities

The Billing Rep is responsible for identifying and collecting patient financial obligation for the duration of stay as well as verifying the eligibility/benefits information for the patient’s visit. Will also determine eligibility for the hospital’s various financial assistance programs.

  • Processes Hospital claims timely and accurately both electronic and hard copy to insurance carriers.

  • Resolves various edits within billing software to include: missing/invalid information, CCI edits, incorrect patient information, etc.

  • Works closely with H.I.M., Departments and Revenue Integrity to resolve billing issues and ensure that complete diagnosis/procedure codes and modifiers are reported to insurance carriers as required

  • Resolves rejections by correcting and resubmitting claims to insurance carriers

  • Reviews accounts in designated work queue for resubmission and/or correction

  • Maintains working knowledge of ICD10 and CPT codes

  • Reconciles daily late charge report

  • Remaining up to date on billing guidelines

  • Handling sensitive and confidential information in accordance with HIPAA regulations

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required

  • One (1) year of relevant Medical Billing experience required

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology

  • Knowledge of HMO’s , PPO’s, Commercial/Governmental payers and

  • System/Entity specific hospital contracts with Third Party payers

Pay Range

$11.77 - $16.18 /hour
